I usually print the statements (the bigger typeface) at the end and then cut them into pieces, so that you have a stack of statements on loose pieces of paper (as many times as there are groups that you want to work with at the same time. I would suggest no more then three groups, because you, as moderator, have to walk around and make notes on how they communicate and how things work out. It helps if you have ONE observer PER GROUP, I usually pick a loud person in the group, because if he is an observer, he is not allowed to interfere and the group can have an idea how it would work if HE IS NOT there!. It all depends on the debriefing, of course: how does the group function, who is taking charge, who is in the background, do you have suggestions for improvement of the team (mostly: communicate more, LISTEN to each other more, let the silent members have their chance = make the loud ones shut up, etc.). The questionnaire for the debriefing is attached at the end! Good luck, and tell me how it works out. The copyright involves MENTIONING YOUR SOURCE (Drs. Toine Sterk, trainer Intercultural Management IBMS, Arnhem Business School (and a GOOD one)). I also do a negotiation exercise, which is called "Shark Island", but I will send it to you later (I have it on my school disk). I have added the background "theory" if you like, on this exercise, about power and the abuse of it. The third attachment is the questionnaire about whether you are a teamworker or a soloist. It is a really good list and I use it to give students a little push in the back as well (the outcome is usually worded REALLY positively). I would suggest that you take a really close look, because getting to the results is quite a complicated process! Maybe youŽd have to fill it in for yourself and then make sure YOU understand how to calculate the outcome, so that you can easily explain it to the students. Have fun and we will talk about things this Friday. Toine
