Yesterday, we were on Borovetz with my best friend Mitko. Great experience, great place! Its pure happiness to live in a city like Sofia as in weekends you can travel nearby to the many beautiful mountain places. Rila is amazing mountain, its full of beautiful places to Enjoy. Also the mountain outlook whether just travel in Sofia is a joyous experience ! 🙂
I drive car to Borovetz and Mitko (Nomen) was instructing me on how to drive like a man! 🙂 I drived his Honda Civic ('97).
I'm not having an own car yet and I don't have the opportunity to drive regularly. Driving a car is a pure art, the more I drive the more I'm convinced.
Mitko explain me a lot about how to drive in a manly fashion, I started realizing and seeing how most of people that drive are far from real driving and are taught to drive in a very (benzin / gas) inefficient way. The essence of my driving lesson was that I should drive as much as I can without holding the brake pedal. Until now I used to reduce the speed by pushing the break pedal before every sharp turn. The right thing to do it is to reduce the speed by just removing your leg from speed pedal. Also I was teached to hold back speed pedal before sharp turns and in the middle of the turn (if not in extremely sharp one) to pump up speed. Driving to Borovetz is a good driving test as the distance to it is full of sharp turns.
Distance to Borovetz from Sofia is quite near about 72 kilometers. Borovetz Winter Resort is the oldest Winter resort in Bulgaria, created 1896. Though in mountain Borovetz has a moderate climate and it doesn't feel too cold. Borovetz is located in 1350 meters high in mountain.
The best thing of Borovetz is that prices are really cheap for such a beautiful mountain located resort. We drink 3 coffes and 2 sodas for the amazingly low 6 lv (3 euro). Its really nice as there are also horses to rent and ride in the mountain. The biggest and most known lift in Borovetz is 'Gondola – Yastrebetz'.
I haven't been in Borovetz in Winter but I'm planning to go there in Winter, I guess it will be an amazing experience. Here is a pic I found how Borovetz looks in Winter
