   Another very useful comment if you're using Akismet (which marks daily 10 000 of spam messages) and moves them to Spam (keeps in Database) is Spam Comments Cleaner – spam comments cleaner in short what Spam Comments Cleaner do is it wipes out via a cronjob all spam messages marked by Akismet as Spam. This cleans up WordPress SQL database (from junk) messages, makes your db backups to be smaller and therefore you pay less for backup storage 🙂 Here is original description of plugin taken from its website:
    

   If you are a WordPress site owner then you are definitely aware that everyday more than 20-30 SPAM comments are posting in your site's different posts. And if you do not delete these spam comments then database size going heavy day after day. So to have database size lighter you have to remove unnecessary spam comments. To do so you have to go to comments listing and delete all the spam comments.

   But we are living in advance age and here every thing should be advance. We have created a plugin which will do the same job on behalf of you 🙂

   One note to make here is, if you're using  Hide Comment Author Link enabled together with WP Comment Info Detector plugin you will face issues with flags displaying from which country was written respective comment based on the IP address. In other words Hide Comment Author Link breaks WP Info Detector if both are enabled.
