If you don't have access to the server and you suppose there is Tomcat running on remote server, you can test that with telnet

     telnet remote-host.net 80
    Trying 10.253.33.127…
    Connected to remote-host.net.
    Escape character is '^]'.
    HEAD / HTTP/1.1

    HTTP/1.1 400 Bad Request
    Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1
    Transfer-Encoding: chunked

    Connection closed by foreign host.

You see the server returns Apache-Coyote (which means it is tomcat) 🙂
