It’s still a 32-bit build only, whereas about 99% of Linux users are using 64-bit Linux. So to use it, you have to install all the “multiarch” cruft to enable 32-bit programs to run on your 64-bit Linux.
Presumably, the reason Microsoft does this is to make Skype performance worse under Linux.
I use Linphone to call fixed-line phones, and I tell friends who want to video-chat with me to use Firefox Hello.
